March is sleep awareness month, join us in Providing Beds for Sleepyheads.

Our Impact

We pick up gently used furniture around the Greater Cincinnati Area, and deliver it to people who are coming out of devastating circumstances. In 2023, we furnished 2,278 households in Cincinnati, Northern Kentucky, and Dayton.

How Does An Unfurnished Home Affect Individuals And Families?

When people are coming out of devastating circumstances like homelessness, domestic violence or abuse, extreme poverty, aging out of foster care, death or divorce in a family unit, or immigration/refugee situations, people often move into unfurnished homes and are not able to afford furniture.

A family moving into a vacant home is 3 times more likely to return to homelessness.

Living in an unfurnished home often results in sleeping and eating on the floor, and often results in a lack of hope and dignity, poor quality of life, and health problems.

We delivered 1,866 beds in 2022. Over half of those beds were for children who were likely sleeping on the floor.

Sleeping on a bed is important!

For children and adults, a good night’s sleep is needed for proper cognitive and behavioral functions. Some studies have shown sleep deprivation leaves people vulnerable to attention problems, decreased cognition, delayed reactions, and mood swings. Additionally, lack of sleep has been linked to a higher risk for certain diseases and medical conditions like type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, heart disease, and other problems like impulsive behavior, anxiety, depression and suicidal thoughts.

Let’s work together to get people off the floor and into a bed today.

Schedule a furniture pickup!

When you donate furniture and household items to New Life Furniture Bank, you are caring for our planet, community, and neighbors in need. Last year, we collected and distributed over 33,000 pieces of furniture. This is approximately 1.9 million lbs. or 992 tons of solid waste potentially diverted from our landfills! These items were delivered to over 2,278 households of individuals and families in our community overcoming devastating circumstances. When you donate furniture, your furniture will be given new life for someone who is in need. Your donations make the world a better place.
