Today is World Sleep Day!

In recognition of National Sleep Awareness Week and World Sleep Day, New Life Furniture Bank is raising awareness about the importance of getting children off the floor and into a warm bed.

One in four Cincinnatians live below the poverty line, and Cincinnati has one of the highest child poverty rates in the country. The numbers are worse in some areas of Northern Kentucky. Many of these families are overcoming homelessness, domestic abuse, extreme poverty, or other devastating circumstances. All of which can lead to living in an unfurnished home, and often results in sleeping on the floor.

Sleeping on a Bed is Important!

For children and adults, a good night’s sleep is needed for proper cognitive and behavioral functions. Some studies have shown sleep deprivation leaves people vulnerable to attention problems, decreased cognition, delayed reactions, and mood swings. Additionally, lack of sleep has been linked to a higher risk for certain diseases and medical conditions like type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, heart disease, and other problems like impulsive behavior, anxiety, depression and suicidal thoughts.

Join New Life Furniture Bank in recognizing the importance of sleep! Let’s work together and help kids get off the floor and into a bed by making a donation today at https://secure.givelively.org/donate/new-life-furniture-inc/beds-for-sleepyheads.
