What is #GivingTuesday?

What is #GivingTuesday?

#GivingTuesday is “a global day of giving fueled by the power of social media and collaboration…”

Celebrated on the Tuesday following Thanksgiving (in the U.S.) and the widely recognized shopping events Black Friday and Cyber Monday, #GivingTuesday kicks off the charitable season, when many focus on their holiday and end-of-year giving,” (source: givingtuesday.org)

This giving season, there are many ways you can contribute to help those we serve as they transition out of homelessness, escape domestic violence and other devastating circumstances.

1. You can volunteer at one of our regularly scheduled furniture builds. Furniture builds are a great opportunity for the whole family to volunteer together, or work/school groups, or just you! Click here to sign up.

2. We also gratefully accept monetary donations — you can make your contribution online at this link.

3. Did you know that we also accept donations of used vehicles? The tow is covered and the donation is tax deductible. Learn more about this method of donating to our mission at this link.

4. …and we ALWAYS need gently used furniture! This furniture goes directly into the homes of those we serve, enabling individuals starting a #NewLife to have a furnished home and removing one of the barriers towards maintaining stable housing. To schedule a furniture pickup, email info@nlfurniture.org

Whichever way you give, whatever amount you give — when you donate to New Life Furniture Bank, it goes a long way toward helping those in our community who need it most. Families and individuals starting over, breaking free from the cycle of homelessness and extreme poverty. We hope you will take part in the #GivingSeason this year by donating time, funds, furniture or even a vehicle to support those served by New Life Furniture Bank!
