Party in the House Design Challenge Spotlight: DIGS|Real Estate|Design|Construction|
Designers Brian Gibson and John Harrison are feeling fanciful and fabulous as they create the DIGS|Real Estate|Design|Construction| (DIGS) 2019 Party In the House Design Challenge Vignette. Transforming gently used furniture hand-picked from the New Life Furniture Bank warehouse, they envisioned a celebration of how much living really happens in a living room, how design brings a room to life, and how the design community can help make houses homes for local families in need.
The 2019 Design Challenge Vignette from DIGS
DIGS|Real Estate|Design|Construction| believes that design should be timeless and reflective of the personal tastes of those who live with it. The team provides interior and exterior design, design/build construction, and real estate to help buyers buy and sellers sell homes (and condos) in Greater Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky.
For their “Love, Laughter and Living” Vignette, DIGS designers Brian Gibson and John Harrison selected a grey muli-drawer credenza with iron hardware from our warehouse. Inspired by a monumental dream painting by Harley Francis, they are integrating elements from their showroom to create a Pucci-esque living room full of art and artistry. (Pucci-esque means in the style of Don Emilio Pucci, an Italian fashion designer famous for geometric prints in a kaleidoscope of colors.)
These snippets from the Francis painting provide a sneak peek at the fun the two designers have in store. The vignette will be on display and available to the highest bidder in the silent auction at the Party in the House event.
“We decided to design a living room to bring home our firm belief in the power of creating a space that enhances the lives of those living in it,” Harrison explained. “We wanted to evoke all the layers of color, love and laughter we imagined would fill it from the inside out.”
DIGS and New Life Furniture Bank
In its premier year as a Design Challenge participant, DIGS is dedicated to contributing time and talents to this worthy cause to increase awareness and funding for New Life Furniture Bank.
“We were moved by the opportunity to give back to the community that we love through design,” affirms Gibson. “In addition to the Design Challenge, New Life Furniture Bank recently gave me the incredible opportunity to design and furnish an apartment for a local family emerging from homelessness, and the impact of seeing Daymia and her sons have their first experience in their new home will stay with me always.”

2019 marks the second annual Party in the House fund- and friend-raiser, and Design Challenge. The Design Challenge invites Cincinnati’s top interior designers to give “new life” to gently used items handpicked from the NLFB Warehouse and reimagined in a Vignette to be revealed at the Party in the House event. This year’s Design Challenge features 12 designers and eight Vignettes.
