As one season rapidly approaches, another is waiting in the wings. We’re so excited about both that we just had to bring them together here. This year, our Summer Solstice Celebration honors our Golden Chair Award winners, while the autumn Party in the House is devoted to our exciting Design Challenge. Both events are full of music, dancing, good food, good vibes and good friends old and new.
Summer Solstice Celebration
On the evening of Thursday, June 20th, we’ll celebrate the start of summer on the eve of the longest day of the year with a festive cocktail party at the beautiful and historic Bell Event Centre. Chaired by Ellen W. Feld, M.D., the event features live music, salsa dancing, a steel drum band, and our emcee Ryan Houston, WCPO Channel 9 Anchor & Award-winning Journalist.
The highlight of the evening will be the recognition of our annual Golden Chair Award Honorees. We will recognize the champions of our mission and members of the Greater Cincinnati community who have made a positive and lasting impact in helping those overcoming homelessness, poverty, and other devastating circumstances. This year’s honorees are:
Dan Meyer and Richard Palmer, Co-Founders, Nehemiah Manufacturing
Later in the year, we shift our attention to Cincinnati’s phenomenal interior design community with the second annual Party in the House! We’re already busy planning this event, scheduled for Saturday, November 9th at the gorgeous Cincinnati Masonic Center downtown. Co-Chairs Tricia Ward Reynolds and Kent Shaw have lots in store, and we can’t wait to share more very soon!
With eight of Cincinnati’s top interior designers participating, the Design Challenge promises to impress with another set of unique vignettes. Designers will each select one donated item from New Life furniture’s new warehouse facility, and transform it into a unique piece of functional, high-fashion furniture art. Then they create vignettes in which to display their pieces, which will be auctioned as part of our fundraising efforts. We can’t wait to see what they come up with this year! They delivered a bed bug infested couch and a filthy box spring with bed bug covering on it with holes in it. When I finally reach someone on the phone. I was told it was lent on my white new blanket not BB's. And the box spring they never addressed. Now Im stuck with my apartment possibly being infested if I dont get these items out my new apartment. DONT DO IT!!!read less - Sandra Smith - 11/24/2021

I'd know if it had bed bugs and it definitely didn't - plus it's cicada season, so isn't it difficult to have the world's most pristine stuff in that regard? They told me to take it to Rumpke, which I'm absolutely NOT doing because it's a perfectly good mattress that someone could use for several more years! I'm hopeful St Vincent DePaul will take it, but don't donate stuff to NLFB!read less - Eileen Crowe - 9/24/2021

After verifying on the phone what we were donating and that it was all things they accepted the people showed up and took an end table and the mattress(but not the frame). Leaving us with a porch of perfectly good furniture that we aren't planning on moving with us. I'm sure they do a lot of good and provide a lot of services but if you are moving and want to donate your furniture, I would choose a different agency to donate to.read less - Rebecca Swanson Groves - 3/09/2021 -
